The Region 1 & 2 Meeting will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Country Inn and Suites in Galena, IL. The luncheon will start at 12:00 and the meeting at 1:00 p.m. The lunch buffet for $12.00 (includes tip) consists of the following:
grilled glazed chicken breast, meat lasagna, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans with toasted almonds, and Galena’s Signature spinach strawberry salad, beverage (coffee or iced tea), and dessert
This meeting is the week before mail count starts so please take time out of your busy schedule and join us before your life becomes more crazy! If you have last minute questions regarding mail count, your fellow postmasters may be able to assist you.
Lunch reservations must be turned in by February 11th, so please mail a check for $12.00 to Debbie Graves, P.O. Box 85, Elizabeth IL 61028. If you have any questions, please call me at 815-541-2546.
There are three hotels in Galena that offer government rate; however, no blocks of rooms were set up. Both hotels indicated the sooner rooms are booked, the better guarantee to get a room. Country Inn and Suites (where meeting is being held) and Ramada Inn (two driveways away) are excellent choices. There are also many Bed and Breakfasts in Galena so get “googling” and make your reservations.

Due to another group already booked at the Country Inn and Suites, it was not possible to book a block of rooms. Contact Dana Bennett in Group Sales at 815-777-2400, ext 214. Tues – Sat. 8:00 – 4:00 pm for the government rate and she will work with you to accommodate your request. Tell Dana you are with the Postmasters or NAPUS. There is a chance the group that already booked will release rooms after January 20th so call back if rooms are not available the first time. There are 5 standard rooms (smoking) available for $70/night. Three Studio Suites (one Queen bed and sofa sleeper) for $100 and a King bed with 2-person whirlpool tub for $110. Cancellation must be done 24 hours prior to check-in so the deadline is Friday (Feb. 19th) by 3:00 p.m.
